My Adinkra Cloth

Today I decided to post about my own Adinkra cloth.  I have one symbol so far.  The symbol is two crescents forming a circle with three lines: one going down, one going across to the right and one going across to the left.  They all lead out from a star in the center.  This symbol represents bacon.  I chose bacon to be in my Adinkra cloth because I love it.  I am working on some more symbols.  My goal is to reach ten symbols.  Once I have ten, we will go to the fabric store and pick out some fabric to work on.  I'm not sure yet if we will actually dye anything or if maybe we will just use fabric pens or paint to make the cloth.

Bacon is good. I think fabric pens would be a great idea. Dyeing fabric is tricky, but maybe Aunt Arch could tell you more.

Grandma I was actually thinking about sewing it in. Also, the Ashanti people actually make stamps that they cut out of wood and bone to stamp the cloth with dye. That could work better.

Bacon, eh? Starting with the most important stuff first, I see. :) Good plan.

I like the symbol; it's well-defined, not overly complicated and unmistakeable. I'm looking forward to seeing some more!

If you want to see some interesting bacon things to to www.thinkgeek.com and search bacon. I love that site. I have never heard about an Adinkra cloth before so now I will defiantly have to look it up to see what it is.
